Temple Grandin

Temple Grandin speaking at TED Feb, 2010

I think it is very important to understand smart people. As most smart people live in pretty simple intellectual surroundings they do stand out in a crowd. Usually, being referred to as odd or weird as opposed to just smart. Tolerance is learned through experience as somethings just can’t be taught. However, Temple Grandin is one smart cookie who is trying to teach others how to be tolerant of those whom are smart.

I learned about Temple some 30 years ago and have followed her projects since. The recent movie that featured Claire Danes portraying Temple has been very well received.  Temple shares the same learning traits and barriers I had while growing up. This blog is a virtual voice about the learning curve differentials.  Most posts, categories and essays featured through ‘The Art of Being Creative’ are based on real world experiences.  It is always interesting to listen to how someone else met and succeeded their difficulties and challenges. What I enjoy the most is that we all created a way to adapt to our surroundings. We hoped to cope.  Of course everyone thinks they have to cope with us.

Here’s to hoping we can cope with each other.
